New to Curling

Thinking of trying the sport of curling? Curling is a unique sport that requires both skill and strategy — often referred to as chess on ice. It’s a lifelong sport that can be learned at any age, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and fair play.

Being a social sport by nature, it’s not uncommon for teams to socialize off the ice where lasting friendships are made.

When Are Games Played?

The curling season at the Simcoe Curling Club runs from the end of October to mid‑April. Learn to Curl and the Youth program typically run on weekends. Leagues run during weekdays, weeknights, and weekend evenings.

See our Fees page for full details.

Do I Need to Be Part of a Team?

No — the club offers leagues where you can choose your own teammates or join as an individual. League convenors will place you on a team, and some leagues recreate teams throughout the season.

What Leagues Are Right for Me?

We offer leagues for all skill levels and interests. Please see our Fees page for detailed descriptions.

Can I Try Before Committing?

Yes — the club offers a comprehensive Adult Learn to Curl program with single‑day and multi‑week options for all ages and abilities. Sessions are held throughout the season to introduce you to the club and the sport.
