The intent of the League is to provide less experienced players an opportunity to play on a team with more experienced players to improve their skills and learn the game in a non-competitive, more social setting. As well, everyone gets a chance to meet and play with players they may not have played with before. Couples and singles are welcome.

Teams playing in the Social Mixed League are made up by the Draw Committee for each of the three draws. Players may request to play with one other person and to indicate their preferred position. The Draw Committee will consider all requests but may need to make adjustments to ensure that we have balanced teams with a mix of experienced and newer players.

Depending on other scheduling, holidays, etc. each draw is usually six or seven games. Each game is 6 ends. Games are played Friday evenings at 5:30, 7:20 and 9:10 (times to be confirmed depending on the number of teams per draw)

There are no playoffs. Cumulative scoring is used over the number of games to determine team standings at the end of the draw.

League sign-up for the first draw of the season is done at the time of registration. For subsequent draws, players must sign up on the sheets posted on the club bulletin board by the indicated deadline. Anyone signing up after the deadline cannot be guaranteed a spot on a team and may be put on the spare list.

Please read the League Rules for further information relating to on-ice play.

This relatively new curling format welcomes both competitive and recreational level players, as all are encouraged to join this fun evolution of curling! This year the league would like to provide 2 choices for Doubles Curling this season, depending on number of registrants. There will be the traditional Mixed Doubles league that are comprised of teams with one male and one female player and would be appropriate for curlers looking for competitive game options.  We would also like to offer a more recreational option of Open Doubles, in which teams could be simply comprised of two players. This option is a great entry point for new or experienced curlers looking to try something new.

** Add your league preference (Mixed Doubles or Open Doubles) in the comments section of registration**

The league administrators will assist any interested new/experienced curlers that sign up as individuals in finding a teammate or help sign up as a spare. Please contact us via email after registration if you are looking for a teammate! (sccmixeddoubles@simcoecurlingclub.ca)
